cambelt change check list before re start...
furryeggs - 2/12/18 at 08:05 PM

What should i be checking before attempting to restart my engine after a core plug and cambelt change. I’ve had a rusty core plug go in the head so changed the belt at the same time as everything had to come off for the plug.

What I’ve checked so far.
All locking pins, plates, flywheel locks removed.
checked and double checked torque figures.
Hand cranked to check timing (everything looks good).
re fitted fan belt.
Re plumbed the coolant bypass, so just needs new coolant.

Am i missing anything?

I guess you've changed the oil and filter, and charged the battery

After taking the locking gear out, turn it over by hand a few times and slot the timing gear back in to check. I am a little obsessive compulsive about this and do it several times.

If it’s been stood a while, take the plugs out and spin it over to get some oil moving.

Oil and filter are new, only been stood for about 3 weeks, core plug went last month before i took it out before parking up for the winter. Only been on the road since the summer.

Sounds like you've checked and double checked so mows the time to start it

Is it an interference engine?
