duratec cams - sbdev or raceline or others

Hi

As part of the rebuild and duratec build, it looks like i will have enough in the budget to put a set of stage 1 cams in to pair up with the throttle bodies and new exhaust (which in theory should put me at 210 bhp).

My research seems to point me at the two usual suspects for cams - raceline and sbdev. I spoke to raceline yesterday and their cams also retain the front pulley arrangement which makes for a slightly cheaper install, but obviously no opportunity for cam timing.

So, my question is - who has experience of which supplier - my budget doesn't run to the extra £1100 or so for new pistons and rods (wish it did) so I can't go fit any of the lairy cams.

My assumption is that both manufactures are of a high reputation so I trust the manufacturing and engineering - just wondering if one cam offered more low-down torque, or better overall HP gains, etc.

Thankyou again, collective

Can only speak of my dealings with SBD but they were very good indeed
There was always somebody available to talk to at the end of the phone and Steve or Craig
were great on any technical help

Standard Duratec camshaft sprockets don't have keyways so you can adjust the cam timing. Downside versus vernier pulleys is that you don't have markings to easily show how many degrees adjusted they are.

Have you also considered:

1) Pipercams
2) Kent cams (direct or via someone like Burton Power etc.)
3) Newman cams (direct or via someone like OC Racing etc.)

Probably others but can't think of them right now.

Have you spoken to Ammo at Raceco ?

He's rated very highly on Blatchat and has alot of success in producing high power Duratech's
