Wheels and tyres

Evening.
Got a Haynes Roadster currently with 15 inch wheel and tyre combination. Is this the preferred combination or do some people run on 16 or 17 inch wheels with low profile tyres?
Cheers
A

No bigger than 15s. Most people rave about 13s.

15 is the compromise size IMHO
Smaller for performance bigger for looks (maybe)

15" wheels are picked because of the clearance of the rear hubs/brakes. 14's would work but it's not the most popular size regarding sticky tyres.

I've seen a handful of roadsters with 17's, and in my humble opinion they look simply awful. The tiny discs and no bodywork don't do them any favours either.

15's sound like the best option for road use.
Thanks

Decent, as in sticky, 13's are becoming ever harder and more expensive to find, while 17's are also pricey and have limited sizes, Currently 15's offer the best range of sizes in the best types of tyres and at the best prices. Many more modern donors won't take 13's over the brakes (which is why 13's are dying out)

My car had 17's on when I bought it. It was horrible to drive with no give in the sidewalls. Went down to 15's with a 50 profile tyre and the difference was immense! Ride was better and handing was better.

I wouldn't even consider 17's again.
