Fog light / brake light separation

IVA manual states “Min separation distance from stop lamp 100mm”.

Is this from the centre of the lights or outer edge to outer edge? if it’s outer edge to outer edge then ill need to fit separate fog for IVA as mine is probably too close.

If it ain't broken, fix it anyway (just because).

Its in the manual.
Rear Fog Lamp to Rear Brake Lamp separation distance must be
measured between the “illuminating surface” of each lamp. “Illuminating
Surface” should be taken to be the area of the “reflector” to the rear of
the bulbs.
Where lamps are mounted in a common housing and are “E” marked,
the separation criteria should be assumed to be met.

thanks for the info loggyboy, ill need to add a fog light on my rear panel for the IVA. As per photo below the four lights have a side-light halo, outer lights have indicator and brake, inner lights have both fog and reverse. Was just planning on using fog on O/S and reverse on N/S. All four lights pointing directly to the rear.

If the car is going for IVA, take the number plate off, or you may get done for no tax,mot or insurance among other things.

thanks, it was only on there temporarily so I could get the number plate lights in the right position. Think I would get stopped pretty quickly - doesn’t look much like the donor BMW now!

Where will you be taking it for the IVA?

Actually got no idea, anyone know where the IVA test stations are in east central scotland? I live in Fife, nearest city is Dundee but Edinburgh not too far either.

still got to add a couple of reflectors next to the lights on the rear wings as my numberplate lights reflectors don’t meet IVA spec.
