help no sound on my computer

Hi all
the sound has stopped working
we have a videologic sound box running the speakers and its stopped working can i just plug the speakers into the tower ?
as you will guess i know nothing about computers

Check your speakers work OK first by pluggin your phone in.

Check you PC isn't muted goto bottom. Right of screen and see the speaker and check if it's on or muted.

Play something on your PC and then right click on the speaker at the bottom right and see if you see the green bar move up and down with sound.

That's a good starting place.

presuming its a windows 10 or similar pc,
turn it off and on again. (proper powered off, not just restart.)
else, usually there is a speaker 'icon' on the task bar, which you can 'click' and it shows volume, but also at the top shows where the sound is routed to. change this to the device it should be, not muted, and at 80%vol.

Sounds like the place to start - making sure you're PC's sound isn't muted.

looks like the videologik sound box has packed in no power light is on and when i striped it it smells burnt inside
O bugger any ideas welcome

Worth having a proper look to see what's gone. Might just be some burst capacitors or a single item which has failed...

Im not into electrics but the brother in law is
