Hello all.... again!
flak monkey - 15/7/17 at 03:02 PM

It's been a while since I've been here... anyone remember me?

Anyway, I'm back, got a load of new projects on the go, although not car related entirely, including a trike and a bike, and a street/strip Camaro....

Updates on those to come, and I still retain some mostly useless Locost related knowledge too.

So yeah, that's the boring bit... there's also some other more personal news for anyone that might remember me, I look a bit different these days, although I still enjoy the same old stuff

Sera

David Jenkins - 15/7/17 at 04:34 PM

Welcome back, Flack - good to know you're around again - and what a surprise!

Glad it's all working out for you.

flak monkey - 15/7/17 at 04:42 PM

Good to see some familiar names still active

Nothing much changes with me, I'm working for a different company now as Manufacturing Manager. Oddly working with a load of people I used to work with 5+ years ago, but at a different company in different roles. All very interesting.

As for my personal changes... yeah, well, something I should've dealt with 10+ years ago, never did and finally bit the bullet on my 30th Birthday - nearly 3 years ago. I might look a bit different, but I'm basically the same me. Just changed the outside to match the inside

NigeEss - 15/7/17 at 05:54 PM

Welcome back, and as others have said, you're looking good.
Must have been a difficult time for you, glad it's working out.

Thanks - to be honest it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Surprising how many people were fully supportive and just basically said - "do what makes you happy"

I lost touch with a few people, but in general all my family, friends and work colleagues were more than supportive. It surprised me....

Benzine - 15/7/17 at 06:19 PM

Glad to hear it We had a 30yr school reunion the other week. One of my former class mates, Andrew, is now Hannah. Everyone was so cool when she arrived and welcomed her with open arms. It seemed totally natural and she had a great laugh along with the rest of us

melly-g - 15/7/17 at 09:45 PM

WOW - How do you find the time ? I'm so jealous of your skill, patiance and engineering ability.

The gender thing is insignificant to me but I appreciate how hard it must of been for you.

Best of luck

Daniel

Good to see you back Flak

Enjoyed reading your previous threads and projects

Think Locostbuilders is very difficult to leave forever

Hello again I doubt if you remember buying a copper head gasket for a x flow at Stoneleigh years ago from me and my lad.
On to more mundane matters will you be offering machining services on here again? We have picked up a few turning jobs over the years to help out some people on here but we tend to be pretty busy most weeks so could live with out it and I'm planning to retire soon

russbost - 17/7/17 at 08:47 AM

mark chandler - 17/7/17 at 02:58 PM

Your skills are to be admired, your courage to change to suit yourself more so.

What happened to the Boneville salt racer?

Kind regards

Mark

We still have the Bonneville bike - we raced in 2012, got rained off in 2013 and then again in 2015 and haven't been back since.

However a load of guys are currently waiting to fly out there again this year having shipped their bikes out, and it looks promising. I'll be giving it a miss for a few years as my finances need to seriously recover. Although I have spent a lot of time on the west coast of the USA in the last 5 years anyway

As for the change - it's a do or die - I was getting more and more unhappy facing that particular demon that I've had since I can remember - now it's done and I'm moving on with life at a fair old pace!

rusty nuts - 17/7/17 at 05:03 PM

Glad to see you back , you and your projects have been missed. Hope all is well. Mel

Fozzie - 31/7/17 at 02:19 PM

Agriv8 - 31/7/17 at 08:34 PM

Please note I am a Yorkshire man with a dry sense of humour.

Well done flack you only get one go at this living Job and if you ain't happy you ain't happy.

My best mate of 40 years well his brother his now his sister and the whole family is a happier place for it.

i was going to mention about taking balls to do that but even I can't go down that path !

I did notice the painted nails on one of your bike posts and thought that's never going to match the finished paint job !

I toast to happiness and to the return of fozzie my v8 Mnr is growling in the garage but kids and a roof over the head comes before play things and we will ride again. I have made a promise to the 6 year old and that little begger never forgets !

Keep the posts coming flack some will look down there noses and whisper but if your happy who gives a damn.

Atb agriv8

flak monkey - 31/7/17 at 08:55 PM

Hi Fozz! Nice to see you are still here too

Thanks Mel and agriv8....

People can whisper about me all they want - I'm me. If they want to talk to me directly then by all means, I have a thick skin. Otherwise, get on with it... I'm happy, and TBF whether people like it or hate it, it's not going to change who I am

Sera

mistergrumpy - 7/9/17 at 04:56 PM

Flipping heck. It's like a reunion in here. I call back now and again and have looked around for your Camaro and bike. I can see you had bigger things going on too. Good for you missus, whatever makes you feel most comfortable that's all that matters. And Fozzie too!

steve m - 7/9/17 at 05:20 PM

Welcome back, and as said above, your needed here !!

But what impress's me the most, is that so far not one dismissing comment, from friends here, that says a lot

We are only on this little planet for a very very very short time, so with the time we do have, it does help if we can do what we want

steve

flak monkey - 7/9/17 at 06:34 PM

Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words

It's good to be back

Certain others I have been on have been rather less than accepting... still a lot of hate around. But it's good to know it's safe here

stevegough - 22/9/18 at 08:49 PM

Hello, guys. Well, its ages since I've been here, but I see the main suspects are still the same - (however 'different' they may look visually)
Glad to see you all are still around. Its been over 4 years since I sold the kit - but I'll never forget the fun, enjoyment and sense of achievement it gave me throughout the 6 years or so from idea to 'disposal' for want of a better word.
The one thing I will never forget, though is the help and comradeship I got from all you guys on LCB. Glad to see so many of you are still at it.
I have now just retired and I'm just starting to think about whether to embark upon the kit building road once again. I really don't know.

Best regards to you all, whatever you do and whatever floats yer boat, Sera.

Steve Gough.

trextr7monkey - 22/9/18 at 09:32 PM

Steve if you are into replacing engines without all the hassle of building the thing first I can thoroughly recommend the Triumph TR7 which Im certain would have impressed you as a littler kid if you are retiring round about now. I have had a few but current one has a family connection and it goes like the clappers but it is on its 3 rd engine in 4 years, I have a couple more spare to get me through the next few years but the cunning guys are fitting MX5 engines which may be my final destination.
Anyway just a thought
Atb
Mike

stevegough - 23/9/18 at 04:45 PM

Thanks for the idea, Textrmonkey, but we are just about to move house (and area) so its 'back burner' time for cars / projects. North Wales is the destination.

trextr7monkey - 23/9/18 at 05:58 PM

Strong group there check out “the welsh dragons “ cars are so cheap you can easily fit one or 2 in to your new kingdom

Where abouts in North Wales are you moving to? Born and bred here and still live here, with roads like these on your doorstep you'll need some sort of fun car

stevegough - 27/9/18 at 07:48 PM

We will be moving to within 10 miles of Llandudno, which is where our middle son and his wife lives and works.

jossey - 28/9/18 at 02:22 AM

You will have some amazing scenery to drive through there.

Mr Whippy - 28/9/18 at 11:08 AM

what a crazy repost from last year to stick a new thread on....

big-vee-twin - 28/9/18 at 08:05 PM

Hello Flak nice to see you again.

nero1701 - 29/9/18 at 09:34 AM

As every generation that comes to pass the minor things like race, gender, sexual orientation, religion and wealth come to mater less and less.
Hopefully soon we will live in a society where it doesn’t even warrant the discussion.

Be who makes you happy.

Theshed - 30/9/18 at 01:49 PM

Are you just boasting that you managed a complete re-build in just 3 years??? Its taken me longer than that to put 2 wheels on!
