As well as the exmo which I built in 2003 from a box of bits (already registered car so no sva) I'm into model engineering, in particular steam engines as this is what I have been brought up (I could use a lathe, milling machine etc...at 8years old and stick weld at 10). I'm lucky enough to have a dad with a fully equipt workshop consisting of numerous milling machines, lathes etc...and we both build 5" gauge live steam locos (these will pull 30+ adults) and 1/3 scale steam traction engines (these will pull 2+tonne).
In addition to the models, my dad and I look after 2 full size steam traction engines which are located in Hollowell, Northampton. My dad along with a few others organises a steam rally in Hollowell each year and this fetches thousands of visitors over a weekend! Since it has been going, it has raised over £1m for charity! Rhocar attended for the first time in 2012 and a great time was had by all. |
