Regarding headlights - ours were bought from S.V.C.and they are extremely bright on dip and better than my Mazda6's on full They are without doubt the best lights I have ever sat behind!

They are reasonably priced and IMHO very good value for money.

Do a search on Eaby for Freelander Repeaters -

These Clip into a rectangluar hole and have emarkings. No screw hole to fail on.

Pretty swish sytle- all sweeping curves.

I beleive that the side repeaters will fail SVA too- the bit where the screw goes in is not radiused appropriately.

The Lolocost headlamp shells are crap - mine have never seen wet weather and are already pitting, the lamps themsleves are sealed units and provide as much light as a candle.
The rears are OK, come off of a Sprite caravan

Hmm... I believe some Companies are playing on your fears. "SVA Approved Lights". You see this in the ads all the time. I read the section on Lighting in the SVA manual. I then went out and looked at my 1984 Land Rover, Yup .. all the right marks were there on the lights. Ahh then the Wifes '87 Nissan.. Yup all there too,
Then my 1970 Landrover... Ahh a bit different, but all the basics were there.

So, I looked at the Tow Boards in my local Motorist Discount Shop, Yup... them too.. they all have the right markings.

So, I summise, that almost anything is OK as long as it has the right markings. (bit obvious really!) Certainly I know that some Land Rover dealers (not franchises!) ie the cheapo ones like Paddocks in Matlock, do offers of all the lights, ie 4 indicators, 2 side lights and 2 rearlights, the OLD Mini / Land Rover style ie 50mm round and all plastic ones for like £25. Now normally they sell for about £5 each, but 8 x 5 =£40, so there is a good saving there, if you like the styling!

Its all about being armed with the right information. And there is plenty of experience and knowlege on this forum.

Buy, or Loan a SVA manual and read it. I believe there are even a few copies on line somewhere. Found that out on this Forum after I had bought one before joining the Forum.!!

Ahh,... Headlights, Ring and Wipac do a legit set of 7" headlamps for about £25 the pair (got them in my '84 Landrover), its finding cheap and decent Lamp Bodies to fit them into is what I am having a problem with!

Best Regards

Geoff

there was a past report about these lights. Someone said that they had used a few parts and chucked the rest for some reason. Provided the headlights are OK/compliant you should be fine. Lights are VERY cheap at shows if you want functional basic ones. its just headlights that seem tricky to get cheap.

regarding the £30 a pair black plastic ones, some have said they are hard to align but peteff says he got thru a test OK with them.

All from memory so forgive me any inaccuracies!

Does anyone have any experience of the Lolocost 'complete light set' which they advertise? It is available for 100 quid and seems to include everything. I dont want to buy it to find out that some of the lights are not suitable for SVA etc.

I know that Lolocost haven't got a great reputation with certain other items, but surely they cant be that bad with lights..........or can they?

Any opinions or alternatives welcomed.

Thanks.
