R1 clutch

After reading other post I was intending to just double up on the diaphragm spring but when I had a look the single spring was flush with the edge of the (pressure plate?) so adding another would have no lateral location at all.
Any comments appreciated?
Engine is a 5pw - 2002/3 inj model

Thanks Greg

I noticed the same thing when I did mine. I guessed that as many other people have used the two spring method then it must be okay. I just got it square to the bottom spring before doing the bolts up.

The R1 clutch spring is a diaphragm and so is dished. I would have thought that the dish of one spring would hold the other in place, no?

You are right the spring is slightly dished though the way it is positioned it is convex rather than concave. It will hold the second one to a degree, it just worries me that the normal one has a lip all the way round it to keep it in place whereas as econd one would not.

I had the same reservations but it does appear to work!
