A little off topic...

But can anyone vouch for the effectiveness of power commanders?

I have the opportunity of one for my CBR600F and am not sure whether it is worth it... Anyone running one that can say they work?

Thanks

Mark

For injection engine tuning, they are regarded as a must if you want to remap your fuel and set your emmissions (along with a cat).

If you are running an aftermarket air filter and race can then yes you would benefit from a power commander set up with the correct map.

What year cbr600 do you have?

my CBR is a 52 plate.

It is on a Micron can (road legal) but standard filter currently... That could easily change if there is a benefit

I assumed that the engine was for a BEC as it was in the BEC forum, but now re-reading I realise it is for your bike.
You don't need one if you keep the bike standard, but change anything (as already mentioned) then you will need the commander to get the best out of your changes.
Remember adding this to your bike could affect your insurance.

FWIR Micron road legal cans are baffled & not straight through, so you would probably not benefit much from a power commander alone (maybe a couple of bhp max, but it may smooth throttle out a bit though)

If you are planning on fitting a straight through can & performance filter then you would definately benefit from a PC3.

Sorry, posted on the BEC area as I know there is a lot of bike engine knowledge on here and I didn't know where else to ask!

It is a good point about the insurance though, hadn't thought about that (at this late hour)

Hi All,

Hopefully my comments on Power Commander are not too late as I'm infrequently online.

I've got one fitted to my Mac1 and it was very useful to meet emissions for SVA. Since then it's been remapped to suit the new airbox.

I can also strongly recommend Northampton Motorsports even though this was their first BEC with PowerCommander. The drivability of the car following the rolling road session was very noticable and to be honest I'm still grinning from the blast around the country roads at the weekend ;-)
