Axle weights
richardlee237 - 1/8/14 at 03:56 PM

The end is now in sight, got the chassis no from DVLA and I am now filling in the IVA form and need the axle weights.

Can anyone tell me what the weights should be for a book locost with solid axle, type 9 and 1300 Xflow.
Wheels are Ford RS alloys.

I am trying to avoid having to buy another set of scales as SWBO has taped up the piggy bank.

Cheers

500kg per axle seems normal

Yes you don't want exact figures incase your over when it gets weighed...

500kg is fine

Just be careful - they do the handbrake test against these figures, not the actual measured weight, so if your handbrake is marginal, go a bit lower.

For example, mine measured out at 610Kg kerb weight, with a calculated gross weight (with driver+passenger+luggage) of 780. But the handbrake has to work as if it were the design weight which I put as 1010Kg. So I passed at the local MOT place, then failed at IVA and was quite confused...
