Modifying x flow
myke pocock - 28/6/09 at 08:58 PM

WHEN, I eventually get my x flow Locost (standard 1300 engine) on the road via the NICE people at DVLA I may do some sprints and Autosolo. What should I look at doing to the engine for reliability ( baffled sump, uprated water pump, oil cooler maybe?) apart from further performance mods which I can plan for at a later stage.

Steel crank pulley , rocker posts/shaft as the standard items are not strong enough

reliability and performance dont go together lol

^ THAT CHARGER IS BIGGER THAN THE ENGINE!

Always fancied putting a super charger on my xflow, however I'd like the engine left at the end!

Hi

When you say it's standard now. Just how far are you thinking of going with the spec. Ie for Autosolo you certainly would not want to put twin 40's on as they would just not run with the fuel being thrown around Etc. Steel rocker shaft and posts. They would only need changing to steel if you where fitting a high lift cam. Other wise they are available from SKY Ford who now own the rights to the X/Flow engine.
A good spec GT with a down draft can be got too 85-90 HP as with LOCOST race spec or a bigger but correctly jetted down draft would see around 95-100 HP. All in standard spec at +90 and very reliable.

Cheers Matt
