Hey guys.

I'm buying a new set of wheels and tyres.

Sticking with 13 x 6j wheels and have been advised to buy toyo r888 tyres. Just wondering what peoples opinions are on these tyres?

Are they really worth the extra money compared to yoko a539s?

The cars only going to be for road use.....with a good few blasts on my private runway lol.

Finally how many miles on average can i expect to get from a set of r888s?

Thanks in advance.

They are great, but if you have no intention of going on track, I would say go for a more road biased tyre. My rears are just approaching the limit after 4 years and 3500 miles.

They are a very sticky tyre, and are not very good in the wet, so it really comes down to how grippy you want the car to be!

I would be looking at a different tyre unless you have deep pockets and only drive in the dry.

there are better all round tyres that are cheaper.

What else would you recommend?

Ignore my post!

I'd put R1Rs then remembered they don't come in 13s...

can you get yoko ad08's in 13inch?

888's last me about 4-5k miles. That's a mix of cruising, of hard driving (drifting alpine hairpins etc) and several trackdays. If you're going to be using them on nice days they are head and shoulders above A539 that are not a performance tyre.

They're not terrible in the wet but the contrast to their great dry grip is stark. They don't like standing water but behave quite well if you get a sudden shower, especially if already warm. THIS VID' realy doesn't show just how wet it was but should give an idea of the grip.
