if only we knew how old it was.....

PS is the engine classed as a safe engine or will the pistons have smashed to bits??

is that a diesel?

Isn't the SRI 150 the 2.2 petrol? that has a camchain and no belt. The SRI 140 is the 2.0 16v and that has a cambelt

The earlier Vectra Sri150 was a 2.2 petrol but the newer shape Vectra had a 1.9 diesel that came in 120 and 150 versions. As you can pick up the former with half the mileage and running with T&T for this money or less, I would imagine it is more likely to be the latter.

Oops missed that bit. Its a 55 plate September 2005.

As for if its a safe engine, I wouldn't have a clue.

It cut out without any noise or warning and the AA said the belt had gone. Towed to the garage and waited ages for them to have a look at it which they never got round to. So in the end bought a new car and selling this as is. Have owned the car since 30K.

Quick google shows common fault is water pump seizing causing belt to jump or snap. It's not a safe engine so everything will have hit everything

Interesting reading, seems that it breaks the rocker arms and the valves survive. Probably not always the case.
