Hi Guys

Xmas pressie this year will be a Mig welder, i have about £200 budget and no experience.
machine mart sell the Clarke 151EN for £200 i believe this is a gas/gasless option.
also they sell the clarke 151TE £223 (bit more than budget). this is the gas only model.
i think that i will be MIG gas welding mainly....
which one shold i get? is the TE better quality for gas welding? are the extras to make the EN a gas welder expensive?
i am looking to weld the locost in 2mm box (plus any additional brackets).

that is 25mm 25mm box with 2mm thickness.....before the jokes!!

I have the 151TE. It's a good balance between quality/power/price and it's easy to get spare bits from machine mart. I don't have a lot of experience of other MIGs at a similar price, but I'd definitely recommend the Clarke. It's my favourite tool!

Personally I would go for the more expensive 151TE.

I am not really a big fan of Gasless MIG welders.
Very prone to producing poor quality welds.

150amps + gas + .6mm wire will do most if not all of the jobs on a kit car project

I would go for the TE. With the EN you will have to buy a regulator, wire, tips & gas to weld as a conventional MIG. The TE has a better duty cycle - the EN equivalent for the 151TE is the 160EN from looking at the specs.
