Will be fine without one, alot of people don't bother with them, more hassle than they are worth

I haven't used one - direct ignition fused feed.

Are you using the ZX9 fuel pump?

If so then the ZX9 fuel pump reay is a bit cleverer than than a standard relay. It only energises the fuel pump when cranking (black/red wire) OR when there is a pulse signal from number one coil (white/red wire) - ie when running.

This means that the fuel pump isn't trying to pump when the engine is not running which is especially desirable if you have an accident and the engine cuts out, a fuel pipe has split or come off and the fuel pump is squirting fuel all over your engine bay..
