Hi all,
I do a bit of home brewing. I have the offer of a stainless central heating cylinder that would make an excellent hot liquor tank. To do this, I
need to cut the top off, which will leave a sharp edge. Is there a clever way of bending this over into a lip? I am thinking a solid metal bar with
a slit in it (a la project binky!) might do it but is there any technique to stop the metal buckling?
Thanks !!
Rather than bending the cut edge of the tank why not press on a U channel to soften the edge?
May be cheaper and quicker

If doing the way project binky did, the trick is a little at a time and work all the way along the piece doing just a little bit at a time. Then another pass. Repeat until complete.
Out of interest, will you be dealing with a curved or straight edge?
A straight edge might lend itself to being formed over a piece of wire.
Why didn't I think of the U stuff - thanks
We will be dealing with a curved edge I guess - will keep updating !!
U trim should be easier in that case!

Had a look online assuming there would be a suitable pair of pliers or similar tool to do what you want, but nothing came to light.
