MattCraneCustoms - 16/1/07 at 04:00 PM

yeah. its not offensive, just very, very distracting . . . . what are we talking about again?

macnab - 16/1/07 at 04:02 PM

I'm very offended that it stops too early

Get the long version...

ricklawn - 16/1/07 at 04:03 PM

cum again.......say what

James - 16/1/07 at 04:06 PM

I doubt many people will be offended.... but the problem is that some may get in trouble at work for it!

I can get away with most stuff here but plenty of other members have stricter work practises or web admins.

Cheers,
James

zoom - 16/1/07 at 04:28 PM

Its nice I like it

3GEComponents - 16/1/07 at 04:29 PM

I'm off to buy the wife a wet suit!

Jon Ison - 16/1/07 at 04:35 PM

Can I go on record as saying i have absolutely no problems with you avatar.

trikerneil - 16/1/07 at 04:38 PM

I got one for mine - not quite the same effect

mookaloid - 16/1/07 at 04:39 PM

Been watching it for far too long today when I should have been working

I still fondly remember Dave FJ's avatar last year that was possibly even better

MikeR - 16/1/07 at 04:45 PM

personally i like it, so does a bloke in the office who's just walked over after seeing it on my screen....

hence its a bit of a problem

wish i could have an option to turn them off. Work machine would be avatar free, home machine wouldn't

RazMan - 16/1/07 at 05:28 PM

I sometimes get accused of oggling some of these avatars by swmbo and I only wish I could turn them off - it just saves upsetting anyone.

ps I like it though

Avoneer - 16/1/07 at 05:35 PM

I can switch "Images Off" in Opera!

Pat...

But I don't want to!!!

BenB - 16/1/07 at 06:15 PM

On FF you can download Image-Show-Hide which does the same thing. Bit clunky but GF safe

matt.c - 16/1/07 at 06:36 PM

The trouble is when i think of it i messssds uppppp mmmyyy worrrfds

mmmmmmmmmm

Indeed it was

IainB - 16/1/07 at 07:47 PM

This one?

I admit I used it on the X1/9 forum for some time until I got a warning from the moderator!

Yep that would be the obvious feature to have, the avatars pretty much prevent me browsing at work, and I know several mates in the same boat.

Its not exactly practical switching off all pictures in IE/Firefox/Opera, just to access one site

JohnN - 16/1/07 at 08:08 PM

I prefer the "bapps" one you had a while ago - now that was a distraction

bapps
bapps

COREdevelopments - 16/1/07 at 08:53 PM

where do you get all these avatars?????????????

IainB - 16/1/07 at 08:58 PM

the question is how long does it take til the girls get tired? Iv watched the one above for 20 mins straight and she doesnt even break a sweat!

Iain

If ChrisW happens to fall past this thread......

Not 100000% sure this'll work as I've not tested it, but theoretically, for work days, if the avatar filename starts with a ! (ie. !sexygirl.jpg) then it'll skip displaying it. But at weekends it'll be displayed.

Clearly this needs some tweaking, perhaps per user or during certain times, but at least it gives some flexibility.

Needs inserting at line 356 of viewthread.php, with the elseif replacing the existing else line and the following 2 lines after (down to the next elseif)

Not too sure how date() works so that'll need checking, but its close.

code:

}elseif(subst([avatar],0,1) != "!" && date("w") == 0 || date("w" == 6){
$avatar = "<img src="$post[avatar]">";
}else{
$avatar = "";
}

ChrisGamlin - 16/1/07 at 09:55 PM

Good idea, the only thing is it relies on people with inappropriate avatars to name them with a ! in front, and what is deemed appropriate to some might not be to others.

goodguydrew - 17/1/07 at 12:44 AM

I have stopped looking at the site form my work machine, the avtars are just too riskey

Fred W B - 17/1/07 at 05:48 AM

Lets just keep it at the right level, we have been here several times before - example here

Cheers

Fred W B

I'm new here and it looks like you guys have discussed this quite extensively already.....

The problem is not with seeing them, the problem I have is with others misunderstanding the site based on visuals that have nothing to do with what the site is about.

Less provocative graphics would make it easier to view anywhere, anytime and with anyone.

welderman - 17/1/07 at 08:37 AM

opened a can of worms here, sorry guys. But in all i think the original question was mine and its gone a weeee bit far.
But i can get away with mine at work, but the flashing boob NO.(used to have that for my atvar).
So please no more, thanks Joe.

Perfectly summed up there Dick

welderman - 17/1/07 at 08:49 AM

Back to the nun fettish.

NS Dev - 17/1/07 at 09:11 AM

was a flipping great avatar, but again I wouldn't like to have the MD behind me at work with it on screen!

David Jenkins - 17/1/07 at 09:27 AM

I liked it... but I wished that it lasted a few seconds longer!

(but I do know what people mean when in the office)
