engine mounts and the accuracy required.

hi, i have taken the engine out of my saab v4 for various reasons, but principly to offer up the zetec i am planning to fit, it seems to fit ok, just need to move the strut brace and cut away 4 cms of the metal at the front of the car.

anyway, i was trying to measure up the diemensions i need for the engine mounts, this is not easy as its hard to accuralty measure the distances.

how accurate do they have to be? to the nearest mm? how do other people measure theirs?

also how easy is it to mod the sump? as that is what it clashing on the front valence. the zetec is from an 1992 escort xr3i and is an 1800.

My limited experience tells me that if you are going to make the wrong, make them small, you can always fit a packer, also leave plenty of metal around the bolt holes just incase you want to slot them a bit if the ingine is slightly out, smarten them up after you are happy with the fit

good luck

Retro Ford make parts for fitting Zetecs into Anglias,as well as other cars.
Hopefully either their parts or at the very least their pics will be of use to you.
