Engine Heights - as measured
david walker - 7/4/03 at 08:07 PM

Engine height is, and always will be an issue for Locosts. Today, at work I decided to measure a few engine units up - from crank centreline to top of rocker cover (or timing belt cover, where appropriate) Results as follows:-

1300 X'Flow - 13.5"
1600 X'Flow - 15" (ignoring oil filler on both X'Flows)
1400 K series, 16v - 16" (allowing for slight slant of engine)
2.0 Vauxhall, 8v - 16"
2.0 Pinto - 17"
2.0 Vauxhall 16v XE - 17"
Ford DOHC - 17.5"

Obviously sump configurations have to be considered, but more so the width of the top of the engine (as with DOHC and XE), and also ancilliaries.

Hope this is of some help - PS forgot Zetec, will measure tommorrow.
