I'm just starting a Haynes Roadster. Curious on what bike engine options would be good - any ideas?

My pockets are very very shallow How much am I talking about for each option??

search is your friend mate - this forum has a very good search function, its worth using.

If your pockets are shallow then prob best will be the zx9/blade at around £700 for the engine.

What about honda blackbird 1100
for power per pound you wont beat it for that its an engine that is overlooked a lot of the time and consiquently can be bought for a song its sweet as a nut in my dax rush

I chose the CBR 1000 RR for mine with some regrets. I am sure once it runs I will be happy again, but it will be after considerable hurdles had to be overcome.

The sump is very deep, and unless you want a centre of gravity of a landrover, you need a new shallower sump...500£..

Secondary injectors above the inlet ports mean you cant just stick a pipercross across the TB's, as the injectors and the airflow across them are very sensitive to change. It also means you cant lower the highest point of the engine very easily. The fuelrail of mine sticks out through the bonnet bulge.

Oval outlet ports make the manufacture of an exhaust manifold more complicated.

Other than that, I have heard that it is a very powerful machine, and has done very well in racing.

Strech to the Hayabusa if you can, 180BHP as standard. V popular with drag racers hense shedloads of aftermarket parts and can be taken up to 500BHP. Slight downside is price about £2300 - £2500 but you could be lucky if you pick up a complete bike for a good price and sell off the unwanted parts.

or a ZX12 will pop out roughly the same power as above but will cost you about £1k less and is less likely to need a dry sump (depending on your intended use)

This guy seems to have a lot of bike engines available!? I've no experience with him but others may???

Yeah, as above, Malc's your man, he'll offer you loads of advice/stats etc and he has plenty to choose from. Not the cheapest around but only sells low mileage fairly clean blocks. He is a member but not seen him on here for a while though???

That ebay seller is listed as Yorshire Engines - which is Malc is it not?
