Teesside Track Day yesterday
gingerprince - 17/10/09 at 03:55 PM

Did another track day at Teesside yesterday, run by www.thetrackdayclub.com

I was a bit worried that with 35 cars booked on they'd gone too far, but most of the "normal" cars had to spend a long time off track cooling down, so it never got too congested. And it was quite nice to play with (and beat) the likes of a Scooby and a 911GT3 Karting was fun too, but at 15 stone I don't really have the frame to be competetive - did video it with helmet camera, but power cable unplugged so I only filmed blackness! Anyhow, the obligatory video: -

Many thanks for posting the excellent video.
My mind is made up. It's Teeside for our first outing.
Apart from the blue Elise was there anything else there lapping quicker than you?
Did you find the circuit easy to learn?
And more importantly, what was the breakfast like? Bacon crispy? Fried bread?

Geoff.

The blue elise was pretty quick, surprisingly so - but he caught me up a lot quicker because of the car in front.

Apart from that I don't think (or at least I didn't tussle with) anything else with a roof that was quicker - didn't get a chance to play with the Lola though, I suspect that would have spanked me on the straights

Some of the sevens were quicker though - Andy D's westie and bigfoot's Stryker amongst a couple of others. Some of that will be down to rubber (R888/slicks versus my Marangoni's) - going to have to sort that for next year I recon.

Teesside is definately a great circuit for these cars - and at £99 a proper bargain!

And the important bits - bacon wasn't crispy and bread was soft (was a buttie not a fry-up!), but I'd just driven for an hour and a half on an empty stomach so it was very much appreciated!!

Just seen the other video (this thread). Very good chase, and I now see why that Elise was so quick - it had a diffuser

It also had a passenger! Fair do's he could certainly drive!

Cracking vid Si, some good angles there. You will definately fly with some better rubber. Do it.

Shame about the karting vid.

while we're on about rubber, looks like i need a new pair of a048's for the front before i use it on the road again.
really need to have a spare set of wheels for some slicks like you do andy

Good video Si,looks like the old Marangoni's are letting you down a bit though, its time you invested in some R888's.
