I guess you got some post over the last couple of days ?

As there is to the best of my knowledge 3 teams sorta based on here plus the likes of Bob & Conrod making the trip (hopefully more) how about we get our heads together (electronically) and try to park together ? I'm sure it would be beneficial should any dramas unfold to have friendly helpy type faces close by ?

I will be working on the theory I have always worked on at motor sport events, if you need it and I have it its yours, even if its only moral support.

Sounds good to me. I'm sharing my Tiger with my co-driver John, in a team with Mark Chandler (off this site) and one of his mates. Think we're travelling up the night before and staying somewhere local, so should be there bright and early (good thing too, seeing as scrutineering starts at 7am...)

Anyone else going?

Tom

paulf - 18/4/08 at 08:22 PM

When is this event ?, it looks like there is a varied entry list.
Paul.

bob - 18/4/08 at 08:31 PM

Friday May 16th

Nice idea jon, looking forward to it.

paulf - 18/4/08 at 08:54 PM

Will check my shift rota and will pop along if possible.

We're booked in to the £29 TravelLodge!

And as Jon said, it would be good to have a bunch of friendly faces about!

Lyn (Fesycresy) is probably going to be there aswell.

Steve (looking forward to it even more now after reading the regs stuff just received!)

Two rooms booked here for Tom and myself, see you there!

Leicester Markfield
1 night arriving Thu 15 May 08

2 Family Rooms (non-smoking)
£29.00 per night

Jon Ison - 19/4/08 at 02:15 PM

Are we talking the little garages at the end of the pit exit ?

Do I/we need to contact Carol maybe if we wanted adjoining garages or are we allocated as per start number ?

If Bob Conrod are doing your running etc I'm sure they will be open to a "bung" ?

mark chandler - 19/4/08 at 05:33 PM

Hmmm had not planned on taking any extras such as team manager, anyone want to step up on the day for Tom and myself?

Cheers Mark

bob - 19/4/08 at 05:39 PM

I am begining to think this travel lodge might be a good idea with the early start,i'll speak with thecrankshaftman and see what goes.

James you have u2u re manage/runner/spanner

We can all get together at stoneleigh hopefully so we all know whats what.

Hellfire - 19/4/08 at 05:52 PM

Does the Travel Lodge have a secure car park?

Phil

Bob its easy, you just grab James time sheet go for a walk to Leicester then hand it back to him, that should do it.

I'm thinking this is where the brown paper bag with cash in comes into play

Jon Ison - 19/4/08 at 06:31 PM

Bob you have a u2u.........

James, joking................

But does this mean we cant divulge in cranky rods bbq ? Would it be safe ? Laxatives and endurance don't go together, unless its sitting on the throne endurance............

bob - 19/4/08 at 06:43 PM

If james doesnt need us there for 7am and scrutuneering i will probably drive up for pre 09.00hrs start, i am pretty sure scutter has volunteered his services as well so i am sure tea/coffee food will flow somehow.

Jon, if Paula Radcliffe can do a No1 in her running gear during the marathon, I'm sure you could cope with a No2 in your race gear.

Glad I'm not your co-driver though..............

Phil

Jon Ison - 19/4/08 at 08:01 PM

I've no doubt your runner will be wearing shorts.............

Hellfire - 19/4/08 at 08:04 PM

Yes but they'll be his racing shorts.........

Phil

bob - 19/4/08 at 08:16 PM

Jon i will have to decline the offer of sheep as a bung, us southerners normally go to amsterdam for entertainment

In fact that might be the last time i saw a bung

scutter - 19/4/08 at 08:17 PM

Greetings Gents, Yes i'm still about as long as i'm not out of the country.

I've a kettle, toolkit and stopwatch all ready

ATB Dan.

Jon Ison - 19/4/08 at 08:17 PM

Bob, ewe have another ewe2ewe......

Steve, hows the head ?

Jon Ison - 19/4/08 at 09:20 PM

Hi, sure, the ewe2ewe was re bobs comment re sheep.

No actual u2u's have crossed the airwaves, just a bit of friendly banter.

Drivers/co-drivers are the mechanics as for runner I'm sure its covered.

Looking forward to the event now, here's to good weather n a great day.

mark chandler - 19/4/08 at 10:16 PM

Anyone got a photo of the helmet sticker required or a good description, last time I raced was 10 years ago ! have they changed?

Both my helmets are marked BS6658 type A, only one has the RACSA sticker from the scrutineer, both have the big gold motorcycle racing sticker. Am I good to go?

I doubt if we will have secure parking at the travel lodge, taking some big chains and join everything up in a lump in the car park is the best we will get.

Any want to be our runner ? still no takers

theconrodkid - 20/4/08 at 06:55 AM

when the catering crew (Bob and me) arnt busy making tea and rolls we can help out any of the 3 teams if any one is short of bods,as for running......

Jon Ison - 20/4/08 at 09:34 AM

We are probably close enough to leave Fri am, only an hour away so guess that's what we will do.

Manager runner ? We need to get our heads together ?

Engine for a 5 day event, same one.

Conrods frying pan chips, to die for........

TimC - 20/4/08 at 09:41 AM

I'm a bit concerned that nobody's thought to ask the Welsh entrant to bring the sheep. I'll see if I can find one with enough energy left to travel.

Tim Calzaghe

Flossy might be worth a try, but Baa-rbera is a nightmare. She just lies there and expects you to do all the work. Never again.
