Thickness of Wishbone Pick-Up Tabs?

What's the general consensus on the required thickness of wishbone pick-up tabs?

I'd planned to go 3mm. Higher or Lower (RIP Brucie!)

If these are being welded to 1.5 to 2mm wall tube then I don't see the point of going thicker than 3mm.

I would agree that 3mm is adequate in most applications. I wanted to mention something I read in Kurt Belinskis Midlana book; Kurt is a strong advocate of having reamed holes instead of drilled. He is welding on thick washers around the bolt hole to provide additional thickness for the reamer and bolt load bearing surface.

I really like the idea.

Not built a chassis myself, but I'd agree with this thinking.

Not sure I really see any benefit, the bolt should not act like a bearing in thed first place, it should be tight and all the forces should be transmitted by the friction generated by the clamping action.

Hi Scott,

What are you building this time?

If it's light, then 2.5mm is more than enough.

Reaming holes is way overkill, but I use ground shoulder bolts and use them as pivots for nylatron bushes.
