I have noticed that the bonnet on my Pinto engined Indy is starting to sag a bit in the middle.

Is this a regular occurence and how have other people solved this issue?

Could it be a heat issue ?

maybe you need a little more engine bay cooling ? or perhaps some exhaust wrap ?

It could well be a heat issue...
Problem is I already have the silver under bonnet insulation and exhaust wrap so I don't know what else I can do really.

Saw a guy with a Tiger E1 who said that this was a problem.

He was recommended to make a wooden jig (from Tiger) and strap the bonnet to it when not in use hence keeping the shape and not allowing the heat of the engine to cause sag.

Apparently this works.

you could always bond a sheet 1mm of ally to the underside of the bonnet... this would give it the needed strength but not be too intrusive

you wouldn't need to cover the whole of the underside just a nice big patch in the middle.

would probably look quite good too if done right....

... or you could fabricate an Aluminium bonnet bulge and fit that to the centre of your bonnet. It will give added stiffness that will stop it sagging.

If you prefer MK do a fibreglass bulge of the right sort of dimensions - that would work just as well.

Bond some marine ply stiffeners to the underside of the bonnet with fibreglass.
