sprocket issue
zekill - 9/9/12 at 05:46 PM

Hi all,
I have a problem with my sprocket adaptor, the bolt that retain it unscrew for about ten minutes trackday.
I have screw it with blue loctite but it's the same.
I have made a good 7075 washer, the same too.
What can I do ?

Mine reused the original Bike bolt and washer. The washer is one you fold over the bolt after tightening it up, been fine from day one.

Maybe source the bolt and washer from your engine and then see what happens, it seems to me that your nice 7075 washer is the issue.

thank for reply.
It seem to be a standard washer on my engine, 919 fireblade.
part 24

use green high strength locktite 270 be warned though. once that stuff sets you will have little chance of ever getting the bolt out again.

the blue stuff is just basic thread locker for low stress environments. what did you use 222 or 243? 222 is super poo and only any good for tiny little fixings. also before you use it clean out the threads on the bolt and output shaft with brake cleaner to remove any oily deposits

make sure its a correct factory torque too

I use 243.
I have 602 in stock, I must try it.

The Honda Blackbird uses the same spline as the R1 which has the splined washer available, if the fireblade spline is the same then you could use the early 98~02 R1 splined washer on your fireblade

I have a doubt:

the sprocket must have a lateral play or no ?
with my setup the sprocket is tighten without play, i'm not sure is correct.
