Hi all,
is a Cortina Mk5 is a good donor car for a locost 7 project ?
I can have it complete and cheap.

I know front axle is very good, how about steering rack, axle, engine, gearbox ?
thanks.

I would think you could sell the Cortina and buy an mx5 and have change left over. But yeh a great donor for a book car. steering rack is a little wide for a book car but rear axle is fine and you could use most of it.

A local banger racer was made to sell some of his stock, Granada's ect where fetching an easy £500

Yep I used a MK IV Cortina as my donor. Used front hubs, engine, gearbox, rear axle, steering column, pedal box (with modifications) and master brake cylinder incl servo. Couldn't get the steering rack to fit without modifications to the chassis so used a modified escort unit, also the radiator was too big.

I used a Cortina as a donor.

Used front hubs but that was it. Rest is a rel mix.

I have buy the car, not at home at this time but it's seem to be a MK4 cortina, 1300cc engine.

Are you keeping the 1300 crossflow engine that comes with it or selling this and going for a Zetec or pinto ?

zekill - 17/5/13 at 08:34 PM

it's seem to be a 1300cc pinto but i'm not sure, the car isn't at home.
I think going to zetec route.
