DVLA Inspection
Yorkie - 12/8/11 at 01:12 PM

Passed the IVA retest for handbrake effieciency on Monday.

Popped into DVLA Birmingham on Wednesday, filled in the build up form, V55/4, payed the £270 and was told that I needed an inspection and they would write to me in 5-7 days.
The letter has arrived today and the date they have given me is 30th August.

Will they process the application and register the vehicle on the day of inspection or will I have to wait?

I'd ring them up and see if they can do a build up inspection before then? or try another DVLA???

I've already had mine, the DVLA are just waiting for my mac certificate, well done on the retest pass Hopefully another 2 weeks and i'll be there

Congratulations on passing the IVA at last. Great shame they are making you wait so long, just not playing the game, is it? It shows the unbelievable difference in these government places - when I went to Preston in Feb, I dropped the forms in, got a letter 5 days later saying there will be no need to inspect the vehicle, please come and pay and pick up your tax etc. - Not what I expected, but there you go.

I think I would go in and pester them. - You never know?

Congratulations on passing IVA. Might see you zooming around Wolverhampton soon!

Had a similar issue when I came to register mine, had same letter saying necessary to have a inspection. Fraid I blew My top at Swansea and then at the local office (Sheffield) out come was that I did not need to take it for a inspection and my tax disk arrived the next day. Ask them why they wont take the IVA examiners word for the chassis number, explain to them that VOSA and the DVLA should be working together to cut out unnecessary red tape and not to increase the amount of hoops we have to jump through. It helps if you are going to end up on a Q plate as well as its not necessary to acertain if parts are new or not.

Cheers, Sean.

Thanks for the advice guys.
After talking to the DVLA, my inspection will be on Thursday this week.

Maybe on the road by the weekend.

Lets hope I don't have the same problems I passed the IVA last Thursday and dropped the paperwork off to DVLA Borehamwood this morning. I was told they would be in contact within 7 days and therewas a chance the car will need inspecting! From what I have seen on other websites I can not drive the car to the DVLA it has to be trailered has anyone else heard of this?

Quite right, but totally stupid rule.... however, maybe following my experience and that of 'nearly done', maybe you'll get lucky?

Arrrrrgh!

Had a problem with the trailer, and had to postpone the inspection.

Now booked for next Thursday.
