Well done, I bet your glad thats over with

are you aiming for an age related plate or are you happy with a Q plate ?

cd.thomson - 22/6/12 at 01:41 PM

cheers guys! I have a donor v5 but would be happy with any plate.. I know I need to have a home visit by the dvla or something, not sure how to arrange it though?

russbost - 22/6/12 at 02:28 PM

you need to apply for a V55/5 which you can't download but can order online. You also need a V627/1 which you can download. You'll want receipts for donor car, chassis (or steel if built yourself) & engine, you'll need to send them your IAC, old V5, proof of ID & proof of insurance - simples!

We just took everything to our local DVLA office (brighton) registered it there and then.
Saying that we have a pre IVA inspection so they could check the engine and vehicle identification numbers.

deezee - 22/6/12 at 04:04 PM

I took all my paperwork (V55/5 and V627/1 plus receipts, photos and IVA report) to the DVLA office in Chester, as I don't trust Swansea to even know what day it is, let alone determine a self build from a kit car. They don't have space for inspections, so I had to book it in a VOSA centre the DVLA use in Wrexham, which didn't have an appointment for 2 weeks. Then once the inspection was done, I collected my Authorisation Certificate (V948) and my tax the following day from the DVLA office. My V5C took another week to turn up and its mostly blank, apart from the VIN, Engine number and name.

Nice one Graig - well worth the wait I'm sure!

Have a beer and sort the DVLA next week.

Daddylonglegs - 22/6/12 at 06:26 PM

Well done chap! Be proud and as said, go for a few sherbets

Good luck with the DVLA, I've just got some more paperwork and they say that as well as the IAC, I will need an MOT!!

the DVLA site is saying I need a V55/4 for kit cars, but I'm more inclined to take your advice..
