Hi All,
So I've been doing a bit more digging in to my engine, and it appears that what I thought was an 893cc (SC28) when I bought the car, is in fact a
919cc (SC33) and the V5C is incorrect (I know - I should've checked it at the time!). Then engine must've been changed at some point without
the DVLA being informed.
Now I'm reasonably confident everything is above board (all engine numbers are clear and present) but how do I go about updating the V5C?
Will I need to provide evidence e.g. written confirmation from a garage that the engine is what I say it is?

From .gov.uk website...
You need to provide either:
*a receipt for the replacement engine
*written evidence from the manufacturer
*an inspection report provided for insurance purposes
*written confirmation on headed paper from a garage (if the change took place before you bought the vehicle)
So it looks like the last option is the one for you.

They may well accept just the change of details form, maybe with a picture of the engine number and a brief explanation.
But if you have a friendly garage, even better.
Pretty sure they only want proof if it's going to effect the VED,so I had to get a letter off a local garage as I went down to a bike engine so this lowered the VED

I've sent the change of details form with a cover letter and a picture of the new engine number ... I'll let you know what comes back!

Be sure to inform your insurance of the engine difference - don't give them the opportunity to wriggle out of settling any potential insurance claim that may arise.
When I changed the engine in mine they wanted a letter from a garage confirming - I did point out that I was the manufacturer but that just washed over them.

I have just successfully had my car's V5 updated due to a change of engine and engine cc.
I had sent a hand written receipt for the new engine and a close up photo of the new engine number.

In my experience they want a letter from a garage whatever the change
