IVA insurance
wonderfulweasel - 26/8/22 at 06:38 PM

I’ve submitted my paperwork to apply for IVA this week.

I’m going to be driving the car to the test, as the test centre is less than 10 miles from my house. I’ll need to get insurance based on the chassis number for the day. Any recommendations? Is it the usual specialist suspects (Adrian Flux, footman James, A Plan, etc)?

Also, anyone that has recently submitted using the online forms. How long was it from submitting to being contacted to get payment?

Thanks

I insured using the chassis number with aplan and have been with them ever since.
You will also need insurance when applying for registration after passing IVA as they tax the car at the same time.
Aplan are happy to insure then reissue the documents when you've been assigned a registration number.

Phone aplan Thatcham as that's the office that deals with kits.

I am with A plan Thatcham and had to claim following a wee crash in Nov 2020, very good service and claim was dealt with quickly and paid out, so all good.

Another vote for A-Plan, they've been great for me and my kit.

And me, sorted things out very quickly, and sent a specialist round after I had been hit.

Late reply but I went with Adrian Flux, easy to do on chassis number and once I get my reg they update the policy (worth checking they don't charge for this as a change when you arrange it).

I submitted my application on 8th Feb and received the "application accepted for assessment" email on 17th Feb. I tried to phone the number they give to pay but didn't have much success so I emailed ivaappointments@dvsa.gov.uk. Received a reply and was able to pay the same day.
