Flywheel lightening
phelpsa - 18/2/11 at 10:06 PM

Does anyone know of anywhere in the south that can lighten/balance a flywheel. Also, any ideas on how much it might cost?

Cheers, Adam

I bought mine from scholar engines

This is for a 4age engine btw Scholar engines don't seem to do anything with them but cheers anyway.

I think we're getting a bit carried away here. The last thing i want is to tear the engine apart, just looking to free it up a bit while i'm changing the clutch!

Another yes for roe engineering in fleet as they used to do all my machining work for my race car, very helpful and relatively cheap.

Don't know your particular engine but you might like to discuss with Roe whether there are issues with taking the fly-wheel off , skimming and remounting it in realation to crankshaft balance.
At the very least the flywheel needs to go back onto the crank in the same position (not a prob if it's pegged of course).
HTH.

Well the clutch has just started slipping horrifically, so it doesn't look like i'm going to have time to find another flywheel and have it lightened before I have to fit a new clutch.

Thanks for the help anyway! Will keep Roe Engineering in mind in case
