Which sierra pads?

Afternoon All,

I want to change the pads on my sierra based running gear, but didnt want the race spec pads that only work when used lots. I'm after a good all round pad, and would be happy with standard, but someone has mentioned pads that clean / sand the discs at the same time??

I'm not really into brakes that much, so not sure what to look for.

Can anyone help please?

EBC greenstuff appear to be the favoured ones. I have redstuff fitted and not had any problems

Really? found them little better than the "white box" ones. Plus very dusty.

Mintex 1144 have an enviable reputation, or Ferodo DS2500

totally agree with this. Having used both during 3 seasons of Hill climbing and sprinting where the pads have to work well on the first corner, I would say:

Green stuff - not much different from standard - not bad but in no way exceptional - need some heating to get going.

Mintex 1144 - excellent braking and initial bite from cold and just gets better as they warm up

Not tried DS2500 but if I had to choose between this and green stuff I would go for these.

Fitted Green Stuff to my Mondeo daily driver, no different to Halfords finest, big disappointment and very dusty

Good point! What I meant was they are good in light cars. Not sure how heavy yours is but I suspect not very.

I spoke to EBC before ordering and the advice was that Greenstuff would be too hard for a lightweight car.

I run ebc greenstuff on my beast i had no problem at the nurburgring and at bruntingthorpe this year slowing it down from 141.9 mph lap after lap

Go with the Mintex 1144 Rich, I've just fitted them on Kermit and compared to the previous ones which needed warming up before they worked properly, these ones as stated by mookaloid, start realy good and get better!
