Fury steering column lower rubber joint
mazie - 5/2/12 at 04:14 PM

Hi all, had to remove the lower steering column section that connects to the rack. The rubber joint that connects the two halves has cracked and needs to be replaced but i can't seem to find a kit anywhere. unable to load a picture yet ( stupid iPhone!) Ive drilled out the old rivets holding it together .
I hope my terrible description makes sense !

The car parts shop across the road from me used to do a kit which included the rubber coupling and 4 M8 bolts to replace the rivets for about £10 but I've not seen them for a while. They were in a blister pack on the general spares rack similar to FORD CORTINA MK3,4,5 STEERING COLUMN COUPLING KIT | eBay but not for the Cortina (It's probably same though, a lot of Ford kit is)

That's the one pete. I bought a decent poly made version maybe ten years ago. So do some people cut this type of joint and weld in a UV joint? Any pictures very welcome.

Buttons do a kit. POLY44 is its name but it's £50 online. Think I'll go with the eBay special.

I built mine with an Escort column and used a Maestro steering column link - it has the correct splined UJ's both ends , I just cut it and welded a length of tube in to extend it .
CBS sell the UJ's and a double ended splined shaft , but thats the expensive way to do it !
