Mondeo Brake Bias Valve Orientation?
skov - 7/2/12 at 01:04 PM

Hi All,

I'm planning to stick a brake bias valve from a Mk1 Mondeo in my rear brake line.
Does anyone know which way round it's supposed to go? Is it larger thread on the input (master cylinder side), and smaller thread on the output (calliper side)?
Also does it matter what orientation it goes in?

Ta,

ISTR the male thread screwed straight into the mastercylinder.

Hmmm, I must have a different one then, as mine has female threads both sides!
It's Ford part number 1113275 if that helps.

A bit hard to make out as I was shivering when I took this photo, hence the blurriness, but this is a shot of my mk1 mondeo engine bay. Hope this is of some help?

Thanks for braving the cold!

It's a bit hard to make out, but it looks like yours are different to mine and have a male thread on one end!

Thanks but I have to confess the photo was taken during a cold snap a few years ago.

According to ebay the part you have is from a Mk2 Mondeo, mine was a mk1 and was built July 1995..

The ebay listing I found states: "4 Door Estate Models Only!" & "Fitted On Vehicles From 15/08/1996 To 15/09/2000"

Link here:

Although not much changed between Mk1 & Mk2 other that cosmetically perhaps the brake arrangedment changed too? My car also didn't have ABS which may explain why the valves are connected straight to the master cylinder. Perhaps on the ABS models they are inline, which could explain the two female connections on yours??

In that case thanks for posting the pic then

I stand corrected - looks like it is a Mk2 part. Not sure why I thought it was a Mk1 now as that ebay link is exactly where I bought it from!
