Rear toe in mm - where is it measured from?
james h - 16/4/14 at 05:08 PM

As above.

I'm about to shim my left rear hub carrier to adjust the toe. Searching the forum I found procomp recommends 1-3mm of toe in, and sorting the thrust alignment.

The 1-3mm toe measurement - what point of the wheel/tyre combination is this measured at? Wheel edge? Tyre edge? My wheels are 15". (195/50/R15).

Cheers,

James

Wheel edge front and back of wheel

As above, at rims

I had an inkling it might be that. Annoying because I don't know if that is for 13" or 15" wheels!

Although when I think about it, toe in at 6.5" radius and 7.5" radius will be similar enough that I could dial in 1.5mm at 13" wheels and be only slightly more with 15" wheels. If that makes sense?

sorry to hijack....

but, where do you put the shims?

mine needs doing as one side is something like 1mm out and the other 4mm in!

They go between the upright and the hub carrier. There are four bolts holding the hub carrier onto the upright, the shims fit on these

I say shims, I've used m10 washers as mine was so far out (my fault, not MK's).

rim size has nothing to do with toe in

??? Since when?

Matt21 - 16/4/14 at 07:38 PM

surely it would?

if you have 2 20ft bars and had them angled so that one end was 0.5ft closer together than the other end
and two bars that are 1ft long that are also 0.5ft closer,

the angles of each would be different, greater for the shorter bars?

same principle but different numbers and units

james h - 16/4/14 at 08:10 PM

Some phat 30" rims will have the same angle of toe as 13" minilites but the toe in mm will be different, shirley?

ali f27 - 16/4/14 at 08:38 PM

Well that stired it up a bit
