13 vs 15 wheel differences
sdh2903 - 29/6/15 at 07:51 PM

Just drawing up a shopping list for my build and I'm torn when it comes to wheel choice. Both 13's and 15's will both fit over the wilwoods I have planned but having never driven a car with 13's I'm after the real world opinions vs 15's.

13's - pros lower weight, better ride quality. Cons limited wheel choice (mx5 fitment)

15's - pros greater wheel and tyre choice. Cons slightly heavier

Anyone got any real world experiences of the differences?

i have minilight 13" and car handles great and nice ride quality due to high tyre wall

It makes some difference, but for me it is hard to be objective as I changed tyres from A539s to R888s.

It certainly doesn't make anything like as much difference as spending some time on geometry.

Interestingly the rolling radius of 185/60 13s is pretty much the same as 195/50 15s.

Get some mega light weight 15"s.

An option maybe incase you was going to go for average weight 13".

I went from 14" to 13" pro race not much difference but I think they look better!!

Well I may have just won some 15 ultraleggeras on evil bay which has kind of made my mind up! Only issue is the guy is being a bit awkward about courier collection.

I went from 15" to 13" pro 2.1's and they look better and with the taller wall the ride was smoother.

I will be going for 13" on my mx5 donor uprights.

15s will have stiffer sidewalls, respond slightly faster and break away less progressively. On average.

Double post.

Interesting to see the possibility of 18/19s in f1
