what tyre pressures are people running on thier 7 type cars please?

mackei23b - 4/5/16 at 01:18 PM

OK, I'll start - I've run at 18psi for the Caterham and Westfield running on iether 185x60x13 or 205x60x13, I know some that run as low as 16psi though these are race cars - all cold pressures

I'm running 18psi too in 195/55 15 NS2-R'S.

Seems to be spot on for road and did some twenty minute sessions at Oulton Park and they were good on there too

My striker is 16psi

I generally run 18psi front and back, although I have also had 20psi front and 18psi back (60% of the weight is at the front). I think I prefer 18psi all round.

This is on a 600kg car.

I run 14 - 15 psi in my Jedi.

Real answered is to adjust to get the correct contact patch... but 18psi is not a bad starting point.

I have been up and down the pressure range, but after taking advice from fellow Duttoneers settled at 18 psi. some are at 15psi but I did bottle it a bit at such low pressure on old RS alloys. Afraid they may roll the tyre.

I used a remote IR thermometer to measure the temps across my tyres after an enthusiastic drive - 18psi gave reasonably even results.

Procomp recommended 25psi when I had my car set up.

I found that mine was too skittish when I went up to 20-something all round - but that might be a sign that the rest of my suspension needs attention!

I run at 14psi

Toyo Proxes R1R 195/50 R15

slightly larger 7 style car.

I get nice even Tyre wear at 16/17 psi cold - but have to work them to get some warmth in them and sticky asap 185/70/13 Yokohama A021 -

I tried 20's but far too hard and wore heavy in the middle ..

johnemms - you have similar tyres to mine - I wonder if the higher profile makes it easier to use lower pressures?

rash12 - 6/5/16 at 08:19 PM

thanks for all the replies i will try at 18psi
