Can any one please tell me if a return spring is necessary on the brake pedal. I am using a bias twin master cylinder set up.

I haven't got one on mine and I've never found it a problem

I have floor mounted pedals and I have put a helper spring around the pivot.
It does not affect the feel of the pedal, but it ensures that there is no strain on the master cylinders, so their internal springs should last a bit longer.

Thank you for that. I'll try without and see how we go. I have a hydraulic brakelight switch so I guess if that goes out when the pedal is released, there is no internal pressure in the system and all will be okay.
