FS Zetec ARP Con Rod Bolts
Mal - 19/1/09 at 09:08 PM

I have for sale an unused set of ARP con rod bolts for a Zetec blacktop engine: ARP part number 251-6201; Burton part number BE05A, with M8 threads.

I bought these privately with the bolts unpacked for use on my silvertop, but the length and central locator position are not right. At the recent Autosport show I spoke to Burton and also ARP about these. ARP gave me a sample of the silvertop bolt and their full catalogue.
Their catalogue lists these bolts as being for 2 litre RS2000.
Burton said that the 'A' on the end of their part number indicates it is for a Blacktop Zetec.
To allow you to check: the overall length from under the head is 42mm. From under the head to the start of the 9mm locator diameter 18mm and from under the head to the end of the 9mm diameter is 24.5mm. (the locator diameter straddles the joint between the cap and the rod.)

I am asking £33.00 including postage.

Silvertop uses 8mm ARP 151-6003.
Blacktop uses 9mm ARP 151-6005.
I think Burtons are talking *&^%$£".
Yours are made of super tough, twice as strong as standard ARP bolts metal but Difficult to know if they are OK for a silvertop zetec.

The ARP information on the packet does say they are for a Zetec engine.

I have a set on the table in front of me waiting to go in my blacktop. Packet says ARP 151-6005, Ford Zetec 2.0 zetec. Sold to me as blacktop bolts and listed in the ARP catalogue as Zetec 2.0 bolts.
The catalogue is odd in that it lists Silvertop bolts as ARP 151-6003 1.6 zetec but I'm sure I had them fitted in my old silvertop.

I bought a set of 8mm ones from Burton.
They fit my 2.0 Blacktop perfectly.

So in conclusion these won't fit a 1800 silvertop?

However, if they will i'd like to call dibs!

Lars,
Since you have used M8 ARP bolts with your blacktop it would be very helpful if you could tell us the ARP or Burton part numbers you used.

Thanks,

Mal

Burton part number is ARPBE05
ARP part number is 151-6003.

Also note that Burton and other suppliers warn that some engine's rod caps need reaming to fit these, however mine did not and they fit straight in.

Hope that helps.
