Lancia Montecarlo '77 - nicely modded, circa 200bhp.
Nickp - 31/7/15 at 12:41 PM

I'm considering selling my '77 Lancia Montecarlo Spyder, to hopefully speed up the build of my Haynes Roadster.

I've owned the car for 10yrs and it's been developed over that time into what it is today.

The underside has been stripped to bare metal, rust treated before it was liberally coated in a special wax underseal before given a top coat of chassis black. All cavities including original sills have been pumped full of cavity wax. It's a very solid car.

58k miles from new.
MOT May '16
Cheap to insure, I pay £120 a year.

Engine-
Freshly built, barely run in 2024cc Fiat / Lancia Twin Cam
84.6mm HC pistons (11.5:1CR)
Forged steel rods
Fully balanced crank / flywheel assembly
Alquati A25/2 cams (300deg duration 11.4mm lift) with vernier pulleys and 1" belt
Big valve gas-flowed head (43.5/37.5mm valves)
42 DCNFs down-draft carbs with custom airbox and Facet pump
Canems fully mapped ignition system
ANSA 4-2-1 manifold into stright through stainless silencer
194bhp@6.6krpm, 167lbft@5krpm - goes really well!!

Transmission-
Monte gearbox with Volumex internals (Longer 1st/5th gears and final drive)
Lightened 130TC flywheel. AP clutch cover with kevlar lined centre plate.

Suspension-
Recent AVO coilovers
Poly bushed throughout including sterring rack
Welded in rear strut brace.

Brakes-
Bigger 257mm brake discs all round, vented front / solid rear.

Wheels-
ATS Cup 7x15 alloys with Toyo T1R 205/50/15 tyres.

Interior-
Newly covered leather Lotus Esprit Turbo seats.
Momo steering wheel
Racetech mechanical oil pressure gauge

+ much much more....

Bad points-
Tidy enough but needs repainting to be great. If it was painted I'd be asking in the £10-12K region.
Needs a windscreen as de-laminating in bottom corners (was planning to do this when I painted it)

It'll be with a seriously heavy heart if I have to let this seriously cool car go but I really can't justify having 2 2-seater sports cars in the garage, which is what I'll have when the Haynes gets finished.

Price- £8000 NO OFFERS but may consider p/ex upto 1/2 the value for a 4 seater sports convertible ie BMW 330i

That is a seriously nice car - if I lived in England I would be seriously tempted. Good luck with the sale.

Ta Ivan, it is a cracking car that deserves to be used more than I do at the moment. I may yet change my mind as it holds so many good road trip memories. It's done the Nurburgring, Le Mans (x2), Monte Carlo, the Alps and the Pyrenees twice - all great fun with the roof off

Top of the Pyrenees-

Omaha Beach-

Really surprised your letting this go Nick?
I'd imagine it's probably an appreciating asset now!

Not as surprised as me!!
It is only going up in value TBH Dan, but I just can't justify having 2 2-seaters
I really want to crack on and get the Haynes done too, so extra cash will help there too.
I'm not fussed if it doesn't sell, it just seems to be the right thing to do at this point in time.

Don't panic mate, I haven't sold it yet and there's a very real chance I'll change my mind and keep it forever!!

Car's now been de-stickered, had a bit of a t-cut and looks pretty damn good even if I do say so
Still for sale in the short term.

And the way it tries to kill its occupants?

It's not going to scare frank at cadwell as he must be used to dodgy fairground rides

SOLD

So bought this as a stop gap to cheer myself up until the Haynes is built, and still have plenty of change left

I know, I know!!
At least our lass can actually drive this one. The choice was so limited in 4 seaters and they weren't really floating my boat apart from the M3 and they were too expensive to buy and insure to justify. When I thought about it, it would be a pretty rare occasion when all 3 of us would be out in it. I'm very impressed with the Z3 and with a few mods I reckon it'll be a bit of a weapon
