Pinto 36-1 trigger wheel

Hi all,

I'm after one of the above again, I did have someone from here offer to make me one but he hasn't got back to me so looking again.

I don't mind if its second hand or newly made so long as it saves me a few quid.

Hi mcerd1, when I said new I ment if some one was willing to make one for me, I personally think trigger wheels are a little bit on the pricey side. Still if all else fails....

I just measured the crank pulleys outside diameter it was a bit tricky to get to but sure I got it right.

Its 117mm or 11cm 7mm or if its going to be a weld on type the trigger wheel will need this as its inside diameter or if its a universal one the outside diameter will need to be larger than this.

most pulleys are cast - welding onto them isn't always the best idea...
(I've heard of trigger wheels flying off while at the rolling road etc...)

Hi,

I'd not heard of that before, good to know!

I was going to get my dad to weld it (if thats the type I get) as he's a retired coded welder and still has all the gear. so wasn't really bothered about the pulley being cast, perhaps the ones that have came off were done by someone without the correct skills/knowledge.

I kind of prefered the idea of weld on trigger wheels as I don't overly like the idea of bolt on ones as I would loose upto 6mm of thread on the crank bolt.

probably, but bolting still going to be easier IMHO


you'll lose a bit more than just the trigger wheel thinkness on the bolt length as the bolts are set back into the pulleys a bit, so you normaly need a spacer between the trigger wheel and the pulley - easily sorted with a longer bolt though


or if your pulley is a later type with the small tapped holes you could use them to mount it


or if you've got a handy lathe you could do something like what I did
