Possible beware ..
FatChapChipChop - 3/11/12 at 04:26 PM

I have a post in the wanted section for anyone with a Zetec Striker exhaust ...

Anyway, got a direct contact from a chap called John Ginever .. First email being:

"Kindly advise if you still require the items in the above subject and i will get back to you. What's your phone #?, Regards Jon"

I replied saying I was still interested and got this next message:

"Thanks for writing, I still have Striker Zetec Exhaust Manifold for sale in excellent condition and decent shape. I have already made shipping inquires and will take a 250USD shipped. Asking price includes shipping via UPS or FedEx which ever you prefer on a 3 - 4 days delivery, and l'll accept payment via Western union or Moneygram. What's your complete shipping address?"

I then asked:
"Can you please tell me if you are a member on the Locost List, and who you are registered as so that I can see your activity. Can you also send me a picture of the item and the address from where you’d be sending it from."

... No response. I am suspicious now, looking also at the questions to the end of each email he's gathering information quickly and quietly.

If anyone can tell me if they know this person (U.S. based) is genuine I'd be grateful. But right now seems to be a scammer.

Kind Regards

Western Union and Moneygram can be used as scams - there's no recall on the money once it's been collected - it's just like snail-mailing someone the cash.

If I ever received an e-mail like that I would simply delete it. Even if it were to be genuine, they need to learn to write it so it doesn't look like a scam.

SCAM

ross05 - 3/11/12 at 04:55 PM

3-4 day delivery from the US, sounds like a scam

Am I missing something, surely that's the point of the email button, if you choose to use it?

Ben_Copeland - 3/11/12 at 06:18 PM

No I remember Chris saying you had to be logged in to view them.

zetec-phill - 3/11/12 at 06:20 PM

reads like someone in lagos who,s been reading a dictionary!!!

wylliezx9r - 3/11/12 at 06:53 PM

Scam, notice the quality of the English. Very similar to the Emails I find in my junkmail.
My only surprise is that the exhaust hasnt come off his recently deceased aunts car who was the queen of the Congo

3 days from usa to uk in a small ish package is suprisingly achivable, annoyingly i didn't think they had a chance of making the delivery in time, so when a speed control blew, and the new for the other car was still on it's way from usa, i panicked and bought another from the uk, the usa one arrived first, by a good few days

What ever happened to" King Umbongo of the downtown Lagos internet cafe"?
I used to crease myself everytime I saw his posts on here
