paulmw - 10/1/08 at 02:39 PM

I have run out of Sikaflex and could do with some for the weekend.

Does B&Q/Halfords do anything similar

I'm sure that Car Builder Solutions will get some to you for the weekend if you call them

Cheers

I am sure I bought my tube from travis perkins - they shut at about 1 pm on sats, well my local ones do.

. B&Q/homebase don't sell it.

I think B&Q etc only stock silicone based sealants... Avoid at all costs! (rust)

Are there any boat chandlers near you? they may stock some PU adhesive. or possibly a professional decorating store?

I always use this stuff:

you might be able to get an express delivery?

Most of the motor factors round my town seem to sell something like TigerSeal (or whatever it's called), or a similar product from Granville. They're both black PU sealant.

Just be prepared for a nasty shock when you see the price...

It's ALWAYS worth shopping around for this stuff, if time allows.

It's worth getting the proper stuff as you want to get something sticky but flexible. Normal bathroom sealant isn't very sticky... Strangely Tigerflex is sold as a sealant even though it makes a brilliant flexible adhesive compared to some tubes sold as flexible adhesives!!! Hope that cleared it up

I'd go for Sikaflex or Tigerseal. Can't remember what Sikaflex you need- they make quite a few different adhesive sealants and you want to get the proper one....

Contact the lads at Mac1. I ordered mine on the phone one Thursday, it arrived next morning. Was Wurth Bond&Seal I think.

Evo-stik "Strong Stuff" has been recommended before and can be got from B&Q

The description on the Bostik website makes it sound like a candidate.

apparently the polyflex-lm from decorating direct is exactly the same stuff at half the price..... I have used it throughout and it grips like '****'

DaveFJ - 10/1/08 at 03:34 PM

Here's an intersting source for you....

Pond shops! apparently it is used for sealing pond liners, and incidentaly you can also get that corrugated plastic tubing for your loom and plastic hose joiners for your cooling system from pond shops

Wow.... thanks for the replys, I never knew there were so many alternatives. Cheers for the offer Derek

I do need some other bits off CBS so probably give them a call tomorrow and get them special delivery.

The only reason I ask is that theres a B&Q next to where I work so wondered if it was a quick fix
