Forgive me if im wrong but that is a late silver top???

There is no way thats a black top....

Definately a silver top as the oil filter is mounted at a downhill angle. On the blacktop it sticks out horizontal. Also, on the black top the water pump is mounted offset I believe to the exhaust side of the crank and not directly above the crank pulley at the font of the engine like these photos show. Also if its off an `R` reg the black top didn`t come out til 1998. So, it`s definately a silvertop.
