MIG welding trolley gas bottle support
nick205 - 5/1/18 at 09:39 AM

Morning all,

A while back I fabricated myself a wheeled trolley for my MIG welder using box section tube. On the rear I built a low "shelf" arrangement for the gas bottle to sit on. The bottle is then tied to the trolley with a couple of ratchet straps. This works, but I'm thinking it should be better supported.

Quite happy to weld more parts etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions or perhaps pictures of how there's are done?

Thanks,
Nick

I welded some 6mm steel bar on the back. If i change bottle size ill just grind it off and weld a new piece on

Thanks - certainly feasible with what I've already got!

My bottle is held in place with a large worm drive band. Worked ok for the last 20 years

My machine has a chain which wraps round the bottle on hooks each side, supports a 50L bottle ok.

Getting my Argoshield bottle refilled in the next week or so which frees me up to make modifications to the trolley

Mine has too...
And in my case, I think itīs plastic chain..
Plastic chain is pretty strong to keep the cylinder in place.
I reckon the machine will topple before the chain fails.
I may be wrong... And wouldnīt want to learn the hard way.
I have not had done anything to the machine. The machine came with aforementioned plastic chain.
