New to the forum.
Looking to get my first kit car and don’t really know what to look for.
I like the looks of the lotus seven style cars ie mk Indy.
I would welcome advice.
Cheers
Dave

Welcome aboard.

I built and MK Indy a few years back. Loved the build and driving the finished car.

I made my way from Winchester (Hampshire) up to MK Engineering to have a look first and a drive in their demonstrator car.

I would suggest you make a shortlist of 2-3 cars and arrange to go and see the manufacturers. Most have demo cars and even if they don't let you drive they'll probably take you out for a spin.

Great cars, but be sure they're right for you before committing the time and money to build one.

Cheers for the reply.
Great idea to test drive manufacturers demos.
I don’t want to build a new car, I would rather tinker with one already road worthy.
I have a couple of cars I like. The Mk Indy and the Westfield.
I had a ride in a Westfield many years ago and was blown away.
It had a Vauxhall 16v in it.
Looking round the “for sales” my budget of £4k isn’t going to get me anything

£4k might be a bit short to get you an on the road car.

You'd probably pick up a part built project for that, but then have to shell out more to finish and IVA it for the road.

Might be a bit much for me to finish off a project and the thought of preparing a car for an IVA. I shudder to think.
Maybe as the summer ends car become cheaper?

Not as much as they used to. Good deals pop up all year round. I would say to start looking, donlots of reading on here using the search button and be ready to by when a good one comes up.

Be patient and buy right. 4k is a little low but there have been some giveaways over the last year, so keep your eyes peeled. In the mean time, lots of reading and questions.

Post links of potential buys up here and people.may know them or come along for support in buying.
