I bought an electric DA sander yesterday (half price in B&Q) but when sanding well cured body filler the velcro sanding discs clog up very quickly. Obviously I can't use them wet, so how do I stop them clogging up?

Yoy could be using too fine a grade to remove volume. Work from course to fine.

If clogged you can run the back of the paper over the edge of a table/bench and most of the bits should come out

You need to use aluminium oxide "production paper" 80 grade or 60 grade to remove volume ----- most motor factors sell it even Halford sell rolls of it much cheaper the B&Q

If using Wet N Dry - use water!

If not - use Wet n Dry...

I haven't seen wet n dry hook and loop discs. I'm not sure I'd want to use them wet anyway as I did this once with a black and decker mouse, with shall we say instant results I replaced it before SWIMBO found out so all was OK. I've been using 80 grit pads which seem to clog in just a few minutes.

I'll try the table edge trick to see if that works.

My trick is to keep an airline with an "air duster" on it to hand, and blow the clogged dust of the paper from time to time. It even helps when you go to sand some paint that is not qiute hard and it clogs the paper badly - if you put the nozzle right against the paper it will "flick" the paint particles off the paper

But this is using "production paper" as advised by BT, you can get it down to 120 or 150 grit

I hadn't thought of screwfix. These are quite cheap for 10.
