Hi Guys,
Before i had anything under the bonnet, i fitted my nosecone with 4 rivnuts, since then, engine and rad has all gone in making it extremely hard to
put in the 4 bolts. Last night i fitted the mesh which means its impossible to get more than 2 bolts in, and thats with difficulty so thinking of some
other ways to fit the nosecone, maybe something along the lines of a hinge on the front with 2 bonnet catches when in position to hold it down. Anyone
done similar or have any other ideas?

I have hinged my bonnet and then use the bonnet to hold it down, will take some pics later.

Cool Bonnet! I was thinking of doing something very similar myself. Couple of questions.
I would need hinges that can have the bonnet and cone taken completely off as well as tilt. Does your have this facility, if so what hinges have you
used?
Did you put extra strengthening in the bonnet to provide rigidity?

Thats for that info, are the hinges strong then? Think i will hinge my nosecone and have 2 of the bonnet catches to hold it down matching the 4 for
the actual bonnet which will be removable like normal.

Here's my effort at a hinged nosecone.
I used some old gas struts to restrict the opening and some Dzus fasteners (one at each side) to clamp it down before the bonnet goes on the top

Thats a very neat solution, any idea where i can get some similar gas struts like that from? Bought some B&Q flush hinges today, didn't see any for 99p

I made up some lift off hinges out of some stainless plate, with two pivots welded to the front of the chassis

Not got as far as doing stays yet. It is all a bit wobbly, largely because of flex in the GRP - but it's much easier to take on and off.
