mnr rear diffuser
jabbahutt - 17/1/12 at 08:21 AM

Morning all

Quick question, has anyone yet successfully grafted a diffuser by MNR onto an MK Indy? If so how easy was it and any chance of a brief explaination of what was involved.

Oh and any photos of the item fitted would be appreciated.

As always, thanks for any assistance.
Nigel

jabbahutt - 17/1/12 at 09:17 AM

snakebelly - 17/1/12 at 10:36 AM

Nash - 17/1/12 at 10:50 AM

I was going to graft an MNR one to my Indy but when I spoke to Danny (MK) about it he has one in prototype being made. Tbis was before Christmas and he hasn't updated me on where they are with it? Suspect he's been busy with Autosport but hope he'll progress it soon as it sounds like there is some demand for them!

Thanks all for the info. I've U2u'd Danny abot the diffuser and emailed Mac#1 so I'll just need to show some patience and see what happens.

Thanks again

cheers for the link Nash, I believe though that it isn't a perfect fit to an Indy and just wondered how much hassle it was to get it to fit.

As for the aluminium idea, I'd love to but my fabrication skills are up there with my knowledge of electrics I'd have a go if aluminium wasn't so expensive for me to cock it up 3 or 4 times before getting it right.

I would say have a go yourself mate, just make it out of cardboard, selotape scissors and your away, then once your happy get your ally and bang tidy its finnished

Plays Kool has fibreglass ones for 95 pictures of the nice lady from Windsor/London/Sandringham.

ReMan - 17/1/12 at 07:42 PM

Was also planning to do an Ali one once the weather warms up a bit. Figured though that covering the underside was probably more beneficial on sliperyness that the splitter fins oveall?

RK - 18/1/12 at 12:47 AM

It doesn't matter, it's the psychological edge it gives us.

rick q - 18/1/12 at 03:20 AM

It's not rocket science to make one in Ali - but it is fiddly to do it.

Simply made with 2mm verticals and 1.6mm horizontals and lots of rivets. Mine was made in three sections - a low middle bit to clear the deDion and the outers which are higher.

Looks good IMHO. After the gearbox rear seal leaked, it was "pleasing" to see that the oil tracked all the way to the back in nice smooth lines!!.

ReMan - 18/1/12 at 07:31 AM

That's cracking, exactly what I had in mind, hopefully even less complex and achievable in a single main sheet though.

jabbahutt - 18/1/12 at 07:57 AM

thanks again for all the replies and assistance. for anyone interested Danny replied yesterday and the MK diffuser should hopefully be ready next month and approx cost is in the £135 range.

In the meanwhile I'm breaking out the cardboard to see if I can create anything suitable myself which doesn't look like a stick on joke.

Thanks again
Nigel

Blue Peter thoughts lol

jabbahutt - 18/1/12 at 08:12 AM

If only it's likely to turn out as well as Blue Peter!! And before anyone posts the card is only a mock up not the finished article

DRCorsa - 18/1/12 at 09:22 AM

This is a carbon one i built for an Australian customer but you cannot call it "locost" exactly..

loggyboy - 18/1/12 at 10:11 AM

I picked up my elise one for free :
Its a S2 111s (one without exhaust holes), you can usually pick them up for about ~£100.
